Ian Crossley obtained his M.Chem. hons (2000) and Ph.D. (2003) from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), his doctoral work focussing on the synthesis of main-group fluorocarbon compounds. He was subsequently Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Australian National University (2004-2006, with Prof. A.F. Hill), Monash University (2006-2007) and the University of Sussex (2007-2008, with Prof. J.F. Nixon). In 2008 Ian was awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship, which he held at the Sussex; he was subsequently appointed Senior Lecturer in 2016. His current research interests focus on the synthesis of organometallic phosphacarbon complexes and phosphanyl-containing ligands featuring extended conjugations, and the exploration of their chemical and electronic behaviour.
